5 Destinations for Pure Relaxation

How did this happen? It is already May and you might just realize that over the past few months you have neglected one of your most important resolutions for the year 2019: taking care of yourself and reducing your stress levels. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that there is nothing more important than our health and overall wellbeing. Too often do we allow our daily responsibilities, worries, and tasks to take over and suddenly we find ourselves overwhelmed, stressed or even burned out.

Don’t wait till next week when you finished this big project at work, or when the in-laws finally leave your guestroom to return to their home. Let’s take action now and look for a getaway from your worries, either just for yourself or along with your partner, family or friends. There are countless places on this beautiful planet that will help you to nourish your body and soul so that you can come back home the best self you can possibly be. Together with some of Tzell’s top wellness travel experts, we have looked a little more closely at five destinations that are perfect for a wellness escape.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

By Sammy Rabin (Tzell Travel Group, New Jersey)

I’ve had the privilege of visiting some of the world’s most beautiful and interesting places, but being able to experience Siem Reap in Cambodia, the spiritual capital of the world, was a real highlight. The people are very special, the food is some of the best I have had, the scenery is awe-inspiring, the history is fascinating, and the Buddhist philosophy throughout the country can have a profound and beneficial effect on you.

The spirituality in this country and the way people think and interact with each other is on a very different level than we know, it is very compassionate and kind. You can feel that particularly when you go to Cambodia, which is the home of Angkor Wat the largest temple complex in the world. People come from all over the world to make a pilgrimage. Watching the sunrise from Angkor Wat is a truly magical Experience.

In Cambodia, you can eat incredibly healthy. Everything is vegetarian or fish, with very little junk food, and all very reasonable. You can have a wonderful dinner for two with wine that is as good as anything you can get in Manhattan. To be able to eat healthy, enjoy the spiritual aspect, do tai chi on top of a boat at sunrise, and to be able to meditate at sunrise in front of Angkor Wat, and to be able to run through the city and the countryside of Hanoi, Saigon, and Siem Reap is just a lifetime experience you can’t really get anywhere else. So, this particular trip (which also included Vietnam and a week-long Mekong River cruise) as far as wellness and health is concerned, this is truly life changing and rejuvenating.

Spa Resorts in the USA

You don’t have to travel far to enjoy some quality relaxation and wellness to rejuvenate your body and mind. Throughout the United States, you can find amazing destinations with spa resorts and retreats that will turn you into your best possible self with myriad classes, treatments and amazing food. Take for example Southern California and Tucson, CA:

“In one of the most beautiful settings in all of Arizona, Canyon Ranch still leads the pack. This hilltop meditation sanctuary is unlike any setting you’ve ever seen and is magical. You can choose from countless classes and workshops in almost any wellness category you can imagine. The resort has world-class teachers for yoga and other wellness practices, and they managed to find a way to make healthful food as delicious as most high-quality restaurants.” – Sammy Rabin (Tzell Travel Group, New Jersey)

“Terranea is a great luxury resort for wellness. Not a lot of people know about this wonderful place right on the cliff by the ocean. It can also be a great destination for a family with children. It has great wellness and spa options, adult pool, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks, spin classes right on the cliff by the Pacific Ocean with dolphins jumping in the water, yoga classes also right by the ocean, and great nature experiences for children.” – Tom Schmidt (Tzell Travel Group, New York)

Over the past years, Jamaica’s government has been taking big steps toward the improvement of the travel sector, including luxury and wellness travel. More and more, you can do this now in many great wellness resorts and hotels in Jamaica. Whether you want to stay fit with exercise classes and healthy food or get pampered with tension alleviating massages and spa treatments, you will find the right place here that will match your needs and fitness and activity level. There are several boutique resorts that offer rejuvenation for body and mind.
